Waiting, Each, Its Turn

by Jim Rapp

Seeing them depart –
friends, family, strangers –
one wonders . . . how long?

Old photos, faded,
stained, scratched and torn, symbolize
an impermanence.

The dying lead the
living – faded, stained, scratched, torn –
waiting, each, its turn.
