A Body You Have Prepared For Me

by Jim Rapp

A shapeless
reckless
demon blizzard
seeking form
racing
headlong
‘cross the plain
drawn
or driven
from
some former
hapless home

Invades
enfolds
assumes
usurps
the form
of house
or tree
or trike
or tyke
or garbage can

Settles in
and calls
his friends
the seven winds
each stronger
than the last
to come
to share a shape
with him
to build a home
to be
a little while
embodied

Until
the sun
returns
reveals his ruse
dispels his grip
disshapes the form
he’s in
and sends him
dripping
trickling
running
rushing
tumbling
roaring
on his frantic
way again.
