Building a Wistful Future

Mirage
by Jim Rapp

The past is never dead. It’s not even past.
                                                   Faulkner

From where we are we think we see a future
and looking back there seems to have been a past.
Using scripts from our seeming past,
we labor in a barren present culture,
assembling, in our dreams, tomorrow's cast.

Mirage: a figment of a past reborn.
