A Mid-night Waking
by Jim Rapp
Hello world! I’m awake.
Tell me what you called me for.
Is it some pill that I forgot to take
or something that I took . . . or
is it just old age that makes
me wake while others snore?
And crazy thoughts they are;
unrelated to the day that’s past;
half dream. Half waking avatars,
pull me, struggling, toward the cast
of a drama I’ll remember as a blur;
I resist, resist, then play along at last.
